Federal Jury Service

Each year, more than 16,000 Idaho residents are called for jury service. Jury duty affects not only those selected to serve, but also their families, employers, and communities. Jurors are an important part of our justice system. 

This website provides answers to common questions about jury service, explains what to expect, and highlights the important role jurors play in the court system.

Every 2 years, the Court randomly selects potential jurors using two lists provided by the State of Idaho:

• Registered voters
• People with Idaho driver’s licenses or state ID cards

As outlined in the Local Jury Plan, this process helps ensure that grand and petit juries are selected fairly and represent a broad cross-section of the community in the District of Idaho.
