The Trial Process

Jury Selection

The attorneys want an unbiased jury for their case. They will conduct a process called voir dire (jury selection), in which they may ask you about your personal thoughts and experiences. This information allows them to determine if you have any bias or prior opinion on this particular case or toward the individuals involved. Twelve jurors will be selected for a criminal case. A civil case may require fewer jurors.
