The Jury Office was notified today of the following jury scam. The caller identifies himself as Deputy Ryan Jackson with the Federal Marshal's Office. The call is originating from phone number 208-352-2394, which has been shut down by the U.S. Marshal's Office.
Scammers are calling residents, claiming to be Officer Woodward of Nampa Police. They failed to report to jury duty or they had some sort of civil fine where they were requesting debit/visa cards and trying to get that information sent to them to pay off some sort of fine so they don’t have to go to jail for it,” Woodward said."We don't collect money we serve the citizens and that's our business."
It is a crime for an individual to falsely represent himself or herself as a federal official or Deputy United States Marshal. Accordingly, these scams and any similar fraudulent conduct will be investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service, in partnership with the FBI.
