Getting Started with Creditor Registration
Updated on May 13, 2014
In January 2005, the United States Courts for the District of Idaho began electronic case filing (ECF). Since that time, attorneys are required to become registered participants and to e-file all documents with the Court.
Additionally, all creditors are encouraged to electronically file claims, reaffirmation agreements and other creditor related filings through the ECF system. As a rule of thumb, if a creditor files more than two claims or other creditor related filings per month, they should be utilizing the e-filing option.
Cost Savings may be realized from no paper and no postage expenses.
Time Savings. e-Filing a Proof of Claim may be completed in 1 minute.
Convenience. 24-hour access to the court.
Immediate confirmation that claim or documents were received & filed by the court.
Filing Documents Electronically
Electronic transmission of a document through the ECF System constitutes filing of the document for all purposes pursuant to the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure and the Local Rules of this court.
Upon the filing of a document, an entry is created on the court's docket or claims register. The Clerk's Office will modify the docket entry description to comply with the Court's quality assurance standards. A modification notation will appear in the text.
Filing deadlines are not altered by the use of electronic filing. An electronic document is considered timely if received by the court before midnight, Mountain Time, on the date set as a deadline, unless the judge specifically requires another time frame. If time of day is of the essence, the assigned judge will order the document filed by a time certain.
